Patrick Pyle, a coach with 30 years in track and field, leads a track and field training group in Houston. His recent successes include coaching Shelby McEwen to victory at the USATF Indoor Championships in Men’s High Jump in 2023.
In 2019, Pyle guided Jarvis Gotch to 3rd place at the USATF Outdoor Championships. In 2018, Pyle also coached Jeron Robinson who dominated, winning the USA Outdoor Championship, Athletics World Cup, and NACAC Championships.
Pyle coached Inika McPherson to a 10th place in Women’s High Jump at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2014, McPherson set a world record in Women’s High Jump. He also coached Gloria Asumnu who became the Nigerian national champion in Women’s 100m in 2015.
Pyle’s coaching extends globally, with Darius Draudvila representing Lithuania in the decathlon.
Collegiately, Pyle coached at the University of Memphis and Rice University, achieving success with athletes like Jordan Wesner, Chris Pillow, and Belle MacFarlane.
As a multi-event athlete at Kansas State University, Pyle earned All-Big 12 Conference honors and graduated in 2002.
